I think the quotation mean that Macbeth has done the murder and he has now realised there is no going back. He has realised that killing Duncan was a bad decision and he has realised there is nothing he can change

Why are the witches in the play
To me I think the witches are in the play because it was set in the old ages when witches were around and because to make the the story more scary because they are evil. In the modern version film of Macbeth it shows the witches working undercover as nurses in the hospital so that they could get a heart of a man so they could do a ritual to find Macbeth I think.
Act 2 scene 2
In scene 2 it shows how Macbeth feels guilty for killing Duncan, “will all great Neptunes ocean wash this blood clean from my hand?”, as Macbeth said. When he says this it makes me think really hard because he’s saying a rhitorical question that he knows the answer too.He has realised that what he done was wrong so he askes the god of the sea “Neptune” to wash his hands free of what he has done because he regrets killing Duncan and now he has a guilty consouince.
